Eurotour 08 Day #1 - Tunnel of Terror!
It's the beginning of our non-stop thrilling euro-tour. Unlike last year, where we spent an interminable amount of time messing around in Dover and Calais (not something I'd recommend, unless you're some kind of ferry watching weirdo who likes expensive omelettes) we opted to go via Eurostar. The new and swanky St. Pancras thus served as our meeting point.
The leaflets had told me that Eurostar was a futuristic space-age service that would transport us across the continent in space-odyssey luxury style. It's not; it's just a big long train that happens to go under the sea. I did do a poo under the channel, which was excellent.
We arrived at Bruxelles-Midi at about 8 local time and wandered about for a bit looking for the hostel. We asked a bald Belgian the best way to go. Based on that Belgian, I rate the nation 3 and half stars. Well done, Belgium. Anyway, the hostel was okay.
We sampled the exquisite cuisine of McDonalds because we were really hungry and frankly could have eaten the packaging.

Creative Writing Practice.
“Mike, in order to become good at writing stuff, you should probably actually write.”
“Sorry?”
“You should probably do some writing. Get that slightly pathetic psyche out there as often as possible until you can form some kind of coherent narrative. You can't make people laugh or cry first time out. You can't expect to take people inside your imagination unless you exercise your metaphorical muscle. Or something, I lost it then... take that as a case in point.”
“I hear what you're saying, but how is typing up rambling dialogues (monologues?) going to help?”
“I don't know. I don't think I'm the best person to ask, really. I'm as bad at this as you are. Fancy a cup of tea?”
“Go on then. You aren't going to post this on the internet are you?”
